Mobilizing private capital for natural CO2 sequestration – The WALD Initiative

Members of the ICMA German region were cordially invited to a networking lunch featuring keynote speaker, Stephan Opitz, Member of the Management Committee KfW Development Bank.

To reach the Paris climate goals it will be necessary to scale up natural carbon sequestration. KfW has launched an initiative to support private companies with a clear mitigation path to compensate remaining CO2 emissions by investing in degraded landscapes – benefiting both climate and biodiversity.

Joachim Heppe, Chair of the ICMA German Region provided an update on the latest priorities and activities.
